This morning, Kings of Leon officially announced that their highly anticipated second collaboration with Zach Bryan, titled “We’re Onto Something,” will drop this Friday, August 22nd. The news comes five days after the band teased the track on Instagram, sharing the verse and chorus: “I get to rambling talking about the animals, flippin’ around the channels, living in my new flannel pajamas, until the weather is warm, we’re still here so something is clearly working, I’m certain the birds are chirpin’, I’m certain we will be hurtin’, if we make it through the eye of the storm, I think we’re onto something.”

The announcement builds on the growing synergy between Kings of Leon—comprised of brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill, and cousin Matthew Followill—and Zach Bryan. The collaboration follows their recent appearances alongside their fellow Oklahoman, including stops at MetLife Stadium in New York City, Red Rocks in Colorado, and Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Barely two weeks ago, the band also guested on Zach’s song “Bowery.”

Kings of Leon, known for their iconic hits like “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody” since their 2007 breakout Only By the Night, have been a prominent force in rock music. Their recent work with Bryan, one of country music’s biggest names, makes them the latest rock band to find commonality with country music, which has enjoyed increasingly strong familiarity with rock and roll, whether in the form of new school acts like Koe Wetzel and Gavin Adcock, or established vets making inroads into the format.

“We’re Onto Something” will be out everywhere this Friday.
