Kentucky singer-songwriter savant Tyler Childers will release his single “Oneida” next Friday on July 2nd, as he announced today. The track, a staple of his live performances since its debut on Red Barn Radio alongside songs like “Charleston Girl” and “Follow You to Virgie,” will receive its first full studio production, a moment long awaited by fans.
Back on June 11th, Childers shared a teaser video featuring an actor seen in his previous music videos seated in a barber’s chair. As the actor stands, a woman named “Oneida” is revealed as next in line, sparking speculation about the song’s narrative. The clip amplified excitement for the single, which is expected to showcase Childers’ signature blend of country, folk, and bluegrass.
The release follows Snipe Hunter’s lead single, the official release of“Nose On The Grindstone,” featuring Childers on acoustic guitar with an organ player. Snipe Hunter, the album, is set for an official release on July 25th. The 13-track album, available for pre-save and preorder on Apple Music and Tyler’s website, features cover art depicting Childers in a library reading chair. “Oneida” marks the second single from the project, hinting at possible studio versions of other live fan favorites.
