Country music’s fastest rising star Gavin Adcock announced his new single, “Sunset,” set for release this Friday, July 11th, in a video posted to Instagram from his bed this morning. The 26-year-old Georgia native teased the track as a gift for “people that don’t know what real country music sounds like,” doubling down on his commitment to authentic country. This follows the reveal of his upcoming third album, Own Worst Enemy, which is set to drop August 15th; the album’s latest single, “Last One To Know,” dropped last week.
The “Sunset” announcement comes amid Adcock’s ongoing critique of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. In a recent Instagram video, he stated, “I really don’t believe that her album should be labeled as country music. It doesn’t sound country, it doesn’t feel country, and I just don’t think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top, just because she’s Beyoncé.” The comments, echoing his June 2025 performance remarks, have sparked buzz. From taking shots at Beyonce to getting arrested ahead of the single “Morning Bail,” Adcock has proven that he has a penchant for getting attention, always to the benefit of his streaming numbers.
“Sunset” will be available everywhere this Friday July 11th.
