This morning, country legends Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert announced that this Friday, July 11th, they will be releasing “A Song To Sing,” a collaboration years in the making.
Co-written with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor and produced by Dave Cobb, the single is said to feature a laid-back shuffle, Wurlitzer tones, and smooth guitars, tackling the tension between life on the road and personal relationships.
“Chris gets this life because he and Morgane live it,” Lambert said of their collaboration. “We wanted to capture that pull between the road and home.” The track echoes classic Country influences like Ronnie Milsap and Dolly Parton-Kenny Rogers duets. Pollstar described the duet as “rooted in Country but pushing for creative control, prioritizing quality over convention.”
Lambert, a Texas native, has cemented herself as a country music icon for some time now. Her debut album, Kerosene, went platinum, and she’s since released eight studio albums, earning 3 GRAMMYs, 14 CMA Awards, and 38 ACM Awards, including the 2022 ACM Entertainer of the Year. Known for her fiery songwriting and authentic storytelling, Lambert has shaped modern Country music.
Stapleton, a Kentucky-born songwriter-turned-star, spent years penning hits for artists like Kenny Chesney before his 2015 debut, Traveller, won him critical acclaim and five GRAMMYs. With 10 CMA Awards and 15 ACM Awards, including the 2023 ACM Entertainer of the Year, Stapleton’s soulful voice and rootsy sound have redefined the genre for the better part of the last decade.
“A Song To Sing” will be out everywhere this Friday, and impact country radio the following Monday, July 14th.
