Southall, the eponymous country-rock outfit led by singer and guitarist Read Southall, will release its fifth studio album, Kinfolk, on May 1st. The announcement follows two pre-released singles “Burning Bridges” and “Freight Train.”
The nine-track record was produced by Wes Sharon, who has previously worked with John Fullbright and the Turnpike Troubadours and holds a GRAMMY Award nomination. The album follows the band’s 2023 self-titled release and a 2025 re-recording project, The Six String Sorrow Sessions.
The album release coincides with an extensive touring schedule. Southall will open for ZZ Top and Dwight Yoakam on a spring arena run before joining The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers for the Southern Hospitality Tour, which the band describes as the largest of its career. That tour spans May through August and includes stops at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on May 21, Forest Hills Stadium in New York City on June 13, and Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California on August 20.
The band, which formed around the release of its debut Six String Sorrow in 2015, describes Kinfolk as thematically centered on family, legacy, loss, and love.
