Rising Texas country star Hudson Westbrook is set to release his new single, “Damn Good Taste in Whiskey,” this Friday, July 11th, as announced this afternoon on Instagram. The track, co-written with Randy Montana, is the latest from his debut album Texas Forever, slated for release on July 25th through Warner Music Nashville and River House.
Hailing from Stephenville, Texas, the 20-year-old self-taught musician has rapidly ascended in the country music scene. A former Texas Tech student who worked cattle, Westbrook’s career ignited with his viral 2024 single “Take It Slow,” which amassed over 20 million Spotify streams.
His follow-up, “House Again,” earned RIAA Gold certification and a duet version with Miranda Lambert, solidifying his place among country’s elite. With over 5.5 million monthly Spotify listeners, Westbrook’s authentic storytelling and Texas-rooted sound resonate widely.Texas Forever, a 17-track project entirely co-penned by Westbrook, reflects his Lone Star upbringing, weaving themes of young love, family, and heartbreak.
Based on a short preview on Hudson’s YouTube page, “Damn Good Taste In Whiskey” is a laid back drinking song perfect for the season of it’s release. The hook is centered around a care-free kiss-off, reflecting on how he has “bad taste in women, but damn good taste in whiskey.”
Westbrook’s meteoric rise includes a CMA Fest debut and a 2025 summer tour, with opening slots for Parker McCollum. His music, inspired by equal parts George Strait and Koe Wetzel, blends traditional country with modern flair, appealing to both college-aged fans and seasoned listeners.
“Damn Good Taste in Whiskey” will be out everywhere this Friday.
