Ella Langley has announced the release of her new single, “Choosin’ Texas,” scheduled for Friday, October 17th. The song, co-written with Miranda Lambert, has become a feature of Ella’s live shows on various tour dates this summer.
Langley and Lambert wrote the track during a writer’s retreat last fall. According to Langley, the collaboration began with an anecdote from Lambert about a former partner who maintained Texas vehicle plates. The song’s chorus includes the line: “He’s choosin’ Texas, I can tell.”
At the Durant show, Langley shared, “you know Miranda’s from Texas. She said she did something crazy or silly or who knows what Miranda did. She’s like, ‘Of course, I have Texas plates on the back of my vehicle. And I said, ‘Well, I’m sure he was like, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell.’”
Langley debuted the single at live shows, including the Live At The Station festival in College Station, Texas, and Choctaw Music Fest in Durant, Oklahoma, on October 10th. At the Oklahoma event, she officially revealed it as the lead single from her upcoming album.
Langley received five Academy of Country Music Awards and six Country Music Association nominations this year. She canceled some summer dates due to health issues.
“Choosin’ Texas” will be out everywhere this Friday.
