After teasing the song at Stagecoach this past weekend, Cody Johnson has announced a new single, “Hello Lonesome,” set for release this coming Friday, May 1st.
The news comes weeks after Johnson revealed Banks of the Trinity, his 10th studio album, due June 26th. The record’s lead single, “I Want You,” preceded the album announcement earlier this month. It is not yet known whether “Hello Lonesome” will appear on the album, nor has a full track listing been released.
In a statement accompanying the album announcement, Johnson described the personal significance behind the project: “When I heard the song ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ for the first time, it was like a portrait flashed in my head of memories I thought I’d forgotten. It took me straight back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the river.”
Banks of the Trinity follows Leather, which won CMA Album of the Year in 2024. Johnson also released two other singles earlier in 2026 — “Blame Texas” and a cover of Merle Haggard’s “Footlights” — though whether either will appear on the album has not been confirmed.
Johnson is currently on the “Cody Johnson Live ’26” tour, a run of more than 30 arena dates across the U.S. He is also scheduled to appear at CMA Fest in Nashville in June.
