Charles Wesley Godwin is gearing up to release a new live album, Live From The Steel City, on Friday, September 26th. The 23-song record, captured during a sold-out performance at Stage AE in Pittsburgh on September 14, 2024, showcases the nearly unrivaled energy and road-tested grit of Godwin’s live shows. Fans can get a taste of the project this Friday with a three-song sampler featuring “Cue Country Roads,” “Family Ties,” and “Hardwood Floors,” all staples of his electrifying performances.
“I’m so pumped to share the live show the boys and I have curated in bars, clubs, theaters, amphitheaters, arenas, and stadiums over the last several years,” Godwin said in a statement on Instagram. “There’s just something about the energy of a live crowd that you can’t replicate in a studio, and I think that shines through on this album in a big way.”
Live From The Steel City pulls from Godwin’s acclaimed discography, including tracks from his 2023 album Family Ties (“All Again,” “Another Leaf,” “Miner Imperfections”), 2021’s How The Mighty Fall (“Jesse,” “Temporary Town,” “Strong”), and 2019’s Seneca (“Hardwood Floors,” “Seneca Creek”). The album also features covers of Tyler Childers’ “Whitehouse Road” and John Denver’s timeless “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” adding a nod to his West Virginian roots.
In addition to the album release, Godwin is set for a busy week at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville, performing an acoustic set at 3rd and Lindsley tonight, September 9th, and a full-band show with The Allegheny High at Skydeck tomorrow for Big Loud’s AMERICANAFEST takeover. His 2025 tour schedule is equally packed, with a headlining slot at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in October, support dates for Eric Church, and stops across the U.S. and Canada, including Houston, Seattle, and Vancouver.
