“Texas Hold ‘Em” Tops the Billboard Hot 100 Songs Chart

This week, Beyoncé’s first country single “Texas Hold ‘Em” claimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart (all-genre). The song marks her 14th time to top the chart in her career.

Recently, Beyoncé earned her first #1 song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart with “Texas Hold Em.” It dethrones Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves, which has held the spot for 24 weeks.

The song debuted at the top spot following its release on Sunday, February 11th. This is her first #1 hit in the country format.

Beyoncé released two songs “Texas Hold Em” and “16 Carriages” as she began to stake her claim in country music. The songs were both met with mixed messages from fans across all music. Some country fans were more stubborn to accept it as country whereas pop fans were celebrating her exploration into a genre. Nonetheless, the song has racked up more than 30 million streams in the two weeks it’s been available.

Beyoncé is not the only pop artist to announce an entrance to the genre this year. This past January, indie-pop starlet Lana Del Rey announced her next album Lasso will be country, and she’ll be working with Nashville songwriter Luke Laird, who has worked with the likes of Eric Church and Chris Stapleton.

Arguably, the most anticipated conversion to the genre is Post Malone as it’s been rumored he’ll be releasing a country album soon. Earlier this month, he posted a clip to his Instagram account teasing a song he’s been working on in collaboration with Luke Combs. Post Malone also appeared at the CMA Awards singing “Pickup Man” alongside Morgan Wallen.
