Riley Green announced this morning that a year removed from teasing the song on TikTok, he will release “My Way” on Friday, April 18th, the same week he makes his acting debut on Marshals, the CBS Yellowstone spinoff starring Luke Grimes.
On the show, Green plays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL and old teammate of Grimes’s character Kayce Dutton, who arrives at the ranch seeking help dealing with his past. According to a first look published by USA Today, Green’s character performs “My Way” by a campfire in Episode 9, airing April 26. His four-episode arc begins with Episode 8 this Sunday.
The two verses pair domestic imagery, a John Wayne western playing unwatched on TV, a back porch swing at sunset, with a chorus structured as an imagined exchange, Green supplying both sides of a conversation that never happened. Throughout the narrative, he imagines a life that he and his lover could’ve had “if he had it his way.”
The Marshals connection came through Green’s friendship with Grimes, who pitched the idea to showrunner Spencer Hudnut while the two were co-writing songs in Nashville. CBS required Green to audition despite the role having been written for him. He flew to Utah, read alongside Grimes, and was cast.
“My Way” will be out everywhere this Friday, April 18th.
