Parker McCollum has just posted the full tracklist for his upcoming self-titled album, which will be released on June 27th.
Posted via Instagram, the announcement included names for all fourteen new tracks, as well as a listed feature from none other than Texas legend Cody Johnson. In the caption, Parker wrote, “Some of my favorite songs I’ve ever written and released.”
A closer look at the list of songs that will be featured on the new record shows that there are a few familiar song titles. “Permanent Headphones,” which he wrote in his early teens and never released on major streaming platforms, has become a cult favorite among longtime fans, passed around through YouTube uploads and word of mouth as an early glimpse into his songwriting roots.
The track “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues,” which will feature Cody Johnson, is a cover of an old Danny O’Keefe song that has also been famously recorded by Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, and Dwight Yoakam. Similarly, while unconfirmed, “Enough Rope” could be a nod to one of Chris Knight’s most well-known songs of the same name.
