Old Dominion has just announced a new album, Barbara, set for release on August 22nd. In an Instagram post, they shared, “But when we write for Old Dominion, especially this time, we’re bringing more of ourselves into the room. These are our songs, so they should be pulled from our lives. You don’t realize that you’re writing necessarily, but when we listened to these 13 songs, we all realized it’s our most personal record ever.”

Old Dominion frontman Matthew Ramsey recently opened up in an interview with People, sharing his battle with depression following a string of painful injuries. He spoke candidly about feeling “buried underground” and detailed the journey that pulled him out of that dark place.

Formed in 2007 in Nashville, the Virginia-rooted quintet—Ramsey, Brad Tursi, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung, and Whit Sellers—started as songwriters for stars like Luke Bryan before becoming country’s stealth superstars. Their name, a nod to Virginia’s nickname, carries hometown pride. In 2025, they won their eighth consecutive ACM Group of the Year award. Their “How Good Is That World Tour” kicks off soon, with support from ERNEST and Redferrin. Known for their cheeky humor, they recently released Odies But Goodies, a 31-track compilation. Barbara promises raw emotion and arena-ready energy.

Barbara will be out everywhere on August 22nd.
