Muscadine Bloodline have announced their first new music in nearly a year. “Escatawpa Hollow” arrives September 18th and marks the duo’s first release under a new partnership with Trenches Records and Republic Records.
Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton shared the news alongside a note to fans about where they’ve been. “We haven’t put out new music in almost a year but, we’ve been quietly writing, recording and creating the next chapter of Muscadine Bloodline,” the duo wrote. “We’ve taken our time, we’ve pushed our boundaries and we’re bringing you our very best.”
The title refers to a real place; a stretch of the blackwater Escatawpa River near the Alabama-Mississippi line. The duo framed the song as the entry point to something larger, promising to take fans “on the wildest ride through South Mississippi.”
The label news is the more surprising half of the announcement. Muscadine Bloodline have operated independently for most of their run, building past a billion streams and a national touring footprint without major-label backing since launching in 2015. Both members were careful to characterize the Trenches/Republic arrangement as a partnership rather than a handoff, describing it as “adding horsepower without changing the engine.” They emphasized that their fan-first approach isn’t changing, and that the goal is simply added reach.
“Escatawpa Hollow” is out September 18th.
