Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing At a Time” Streamed Almost Six Billion Times

Morgan Wallen’s album “One Thing At a Time” earned him an unbelievably big year in 2023, and now we’ve got the numbers to back it up.

HITS Daily Double reports in its Top 50 YTD Albums list that One Thing at a Time has racked up nearly six billion individual audio streams across platforms since its release in March, totaling 5,979,417,186 as of November 23, 2023. Mind you, this only counts the United States, and it’s nearly double the amount of audio streams that the #2 slot (SZA’s SOS) earned. The album itself was streamed over five million times.

A large part of what drove these audio stream numbers was Last Night, which had an explosive year all on its own. According to HITS Daily Double, the track was streamed over 963 million times across platforms, making it not just the biggest country song in the US but the biggest song of any genre. It nearly doubles the streams of the other massive country song of 2023, Luke Combs’s Fast Car, which generated over 490 million streams.

Wallen’s One Thing at a Time was always set up to be a streaming juggernaut. Coming off the release of Dangerous: The Double Album which propelled the artist to new heights, the album was teased numerous times through single releases in late December 2022 and early January, the One Night at a Time Tour announcement, and the fact that it has 36 diverse tracks, leaving something for everyone to latch onto (and for Wallen’s label, Big Loud, to see what sound resonated most with fans).

From the rollout to the tracking to Last Night’s success, it’s no wonder why Wallen’s album did so well this year. And if the fact Dangerous continues to chart well is any indication, 2024 is also shaping up to be a good year for the massive release from the Sneedville native.
