According to The Tennessean, Morgan Wallen is set to enter a plea deal on Thursday regarding the criminal charges against him.
Wallen is accused of throwing a chair off the sixth floor from Eric Church’s Broadway bar in April 2024. The chair nearly struck a pair of police officers on the street below.
Wallen’s case was moved from general sessions court into criminal court on Tuesday, December 10th. Wallen’s charges were reduced during that move, according to court records.
Following the arrest, Wallen was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, which is a class E felony, the lowest level of felony. The charges now consist of two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon.
Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, did not respond to an email for comment sent Wednesday afternoon by The Tennessean.
“Some Metro Nashville police officers were standing in front of Chief’s Bar on Broadway when a chair fell from above them, hitting the ground just feet from where they were standing,” as News Channel 5 Nashville reported in April.
Following the arrest, Wallen told X, “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”
Wallen’s case has been fueled by controversy, given his reckless history and his being pushed back because it conflicted with tour dates.
