After teasing the track earlier this week with nondescript GTA-inspired artwork, Morgan Wallen has released “Last Thing You Need,” an original song written for the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. The track is one of the first six songs made available from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a companion soundtrack Rockstar Games announced Thursday featuring 34 original recordings.
The full album arrives November 19th, the same day the game launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The remaining 28 tracks or their artists have not been announced. Pre-orders for the album opened Thursday in multiple vinyl and CD configurations.
Wallen wrote “Last Thing You Need” with frequent collaborators John Byron, Charlie Handsome, Blake Pendergrass and Chase McGill. The song continues the pop and R&B direction of his recent output rather than a traditional country arrangement, landing closer to the synth-driven sound of his earlier single “Been By Now,” albeit with a little more twang.
Rockstar has described the collection as drawing on a genre-spanning roster meant to reflect the setting of Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida.
