One of the most anticipated songs of 2024 has just been performed live for the first time.
This weekend, during Stagecoach in Indio, California, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen took the stage to perform their duet, “I Had Some Help,” which has been shared countless times on social media since they teased it a few weeks back.
Malone’s venture into country music has been no secret. He famously covered Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown” back in March of 2021, along with Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” which has since received a studio recording and has been released on Amazon Music. In September, it was announced that Malone would join the Stagecoach lineup to perform a set of country covers. Then, in November, photos were released of Malone in the studio, including such acts as Luke Combs, Ernest, Paisley, and Wallen himself, teasing that a country project was in the works.
Also in November, Malone joined Wallen and Hardy onstage during the CMA Awards last year to perform a cover of Joe Diffie’s “Pickup Man” from HIXTAPE: Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE, marking his official entrance into the world of country music.
“I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen was first teased on social media in March. The short clip quickly took off and has been shared millions of times across platforms, which undoubtedly means it’ll significantly impact streaming platforms when released.
It’s already been quite the year for Malone. He recently made a guest appearance on two of 2024’s biggest albums: Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, both of which have racked up hundreds of millions of streams already. His previous album, Austin, was released on July 28th, 2023, and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Meanwhile, Wallen has been spending 2024 on the road, touring worldwide on his One Night at a Time tour. In March, the “Last Night” singer released a slew of acoustic covers recorded at Abbey Road Studios from his 2023 album One Thing at a Time, along with a live performance of an unreleased song called “Lies, Lies, Lies.” Earlier this month, Wallen was arrested in Nashville after throwing a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church’s “Chief’s” bar. He has since apologized for his behavior. A court date is set for May 3rd.
As of yet, “I Had Some Help” has no official release date. Keep an eye out here as news breaks.
