Earlier this week, fans were sent into a frenzy after Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, and HARDY shared mysterious interconnected Instagram posts, hinting at a new four-way collaboration titled “McArthur.” This morning, the four artists officially announced that they have a new song by that name dropping tonight.

The four teasers they shared included the birth of death dates of a fictional family. Details of the individual teases included:

•  Tim McGraw posted about John McArthur (born November 2, 1920; died November 22, 1963), positioned as the patriarch, or the founding generation.

•  Eric Church shared Junior McArthur (born September 2, 1945; died April 4, 1967), the second generation.

•  HARDY introduced Jones McArthur (born June 5, 1968; died January 5, 2025).

•  Morgan Wallen (via Instagram Stories) featured Hunter McArthur (born May 13, 1993—no death date listed), aligning precisely with Wallen’s own birthday and suggesting a living, contemporary perspective.

The dates appear to form a multi-generational family tree spanning from the post-WWII era through modern times, with overlaps and historical ties (e.g., events around WWII, civil rights unrest, or assassinations).

Another key clue came from a fan discovery: an ASCAP-registered song titled “McArthur” lists HARDY as a co-writer alongside Chase McGill, Jameson Rodgers, and Joshua Bagles.

in the most recent tease for “McArthur,” we finally got to hear a bit of the song, a reflective soliloquy about leaving a legacy with lines like “when you pass on, what you gonna pass down?”

“McArthur” will be out everywhere tonight.
