Yesterday evening, Laci Kaye Booth announced that her new song “George F****** Strait” will be released on Friday, June 6th.
The announcement came via Instagram, where Booth shared a reel featuring a snippet of the track, responding to a fan that left a comment reading, “I have a feeling we’re gonna be waiting a min for this one too.” The teaser clip was accompanied by on-screen text revealing the release date, and fans quickly flooded the comments with praise. One apt remark read, “This is like if Lana Del Rey and Kacey Musgraves had a baby. I’m obsessed.” That comparison alone sets the tone for what could be Booth’s most defining release yet.
Booth originally debuted the track live earlier this month during her performance at Morgan Wallen’s Sand In My Boots festival, coincidentally on George Strait’s birthday. Although Booth’s more alternative sound doesn’t exactly align with the traditional style George Strait is known for, the two don’t clash. This isn’t one of those songs where a new artist name-drops ‘90s country legends for clout, instead, Booth uses Strait as a symbol of the kind of man she’s looking for, arguing, “Boy, they still make ‘em just like they used to.”
“George F****** Strait” will be Laci’s second new single since the release of her 2024 album, The Loneliest Girl In The World. Booth also recorded an EP of acoustic re-recordings from her album, as well as releasing her OurVinyl Sessions.
Laci Kaye Booth is set to join Parker McCollum and Megan Moroney on select dates this summer, serving as a supporting act, as well as performing at CMA Fest and other one-off shows.
