This morning, Koe Wetzel shared that he will release his new album, The Night Champion, on June 12th. A 50-plus date world tour in support of the record is already underway.
The album follows 9 Lives, Wetzel’s biggest commercial effort yet; most notably, the album produced “High Road,” a Triple-Platinum single that topped country radio for five weeks and finished as the most-played song of 2025. The Night Champion is described as a thematic continuation of that record, drawing on Wetzel’s experiences touring arenas worldwide over the past year,
“Really, it’s everything that’s happened, because you don’t go from kids playing for beer to headlining Red Rocks, arenas all over the country, partying and trying to make sense of it all and not shift. My head space is clearer now. I can look back, see how it fits together. It doesn’t make sense, exactly, but it all happened. That search for what it all means keeps bringing me back.”
“It’s kind of where I am now: an edgy roughness to all the songs that doesn’t give a fuck, but there’s a tenderness to it, too,” he explains. “Whatever happens, I’m man enough to deal, but the focus and headspace have shifted; I’ve grown up and become okay with looking back.”
The first single, “Hurts Like You,” is due May 8th, following the previously released “Time Goes On.” Wetzel has said the record moves between hard rock and slower ballads, and was written outside of formal sessions in favor of a more spontaneous approach.
The Night Champion World Tour opened in Sydney on May 5th and runs through November. U.S. dates begin July 23 in Nampa, Idaho, with support across various legs from Shane Smith & The Saints, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent, and Wade Bowen, among others.
The Night Champion is available for pre-order now.
