Jake Worthington will release his second album, When I Write The Song, on September 12, following his self-titled debut. The 14-track project, aimed at honky-tonks and barrooms, features collaborations with Miranda Lambert, Marty Stuart, and Mae Estes. Produced by Joey Moi, Jon Randall, and Chuck Ainlay, the album draws on traditional country influences.
Worthington, a 2025 Texas Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year nominee, today released the lead single, “My Home’s In Oklahoma.” Written with Will Banister and Roger Springer, the track features steel guitar and fiddle for a western swing sound. The album also includes “It Ain’t The Whiskey,” nominated for TCMA’s Country Single of the Year, “Hello Shitty Day” with Lambert, and “I’m The One” with Stuart.
“This record is about making music that moves you,” Worthington said, emphasizing his focus on authentic songwriting.
Worthington will perform on tour, supporting Zach Top on the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour and Jon Pardi on the Honkytonk Hollywood Tour. Tour dates are available at jakeworthington.com. Fans can pre-save or pre-order When I Write The Song and stream “My Home’s In Oklahoma” now.
Raised in Texas, Worthington’s music reflects influences from Ray Price and Merle Haggard. The album’s tracklist includes “Drownin’ In Whiskey,” “Not Like I Used To,” and “Two First Names,” showcasing his traditional style.
