George Strait To Receive Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award

George Strait will be honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 58th annual CMA Awards on November 20th. Over his historic career spanning more than 40 years, Strait has been dubbed the ‘King of Country’. 

“There have been few other artists as authentically Texas and authentically Country as George Strait, and Country Music fans worldwide have been better for it,” says CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern. “As a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and the most nominated artist of all time, he is an inspiration and icon to many of the great, new artists we know today. I am thrilled we are awarding him with this deserving honor.”

Straits’ accolades include 60 No.1 singles and 33 Platinum or multi-platinum-selling albums. He’s provided fans with some of the most iconic songs in the genre and consistently produces tracks with a warm and inviting tone. He’s the only act to have earned a Top 10 hit across three decades, sold more than 70 million albums, and been recognized with more than 60 major entertainment industry awards. 

The Hall of Famer released his latest album, Cowboys and Dreamers, featuring Chris Chris Stapleton and working with Grammy-nominated songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon. He’s received the coveted CMA Entertainer of the Year Award three times—in 1989, 1990, and 2013—and 17 total CMA awards while being nominated a record 83 times. 

The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award was designed to recognize artists who have impacted the genre. The award emphasizes people who have made various humanitarian and philanthropic efforts and contributed invaluable amounts to the genre’s overall growth. 

The 58th Annual CMA Awards will be hosted by Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning, and Lainey Wilson and will take place on November 20th, 2024. The show will include an all-star cast of performances by acts across the genre. Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Sierra Hull, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Ashley McBryde, Post Malone, Shaboozey, Chris Stapleton, Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, Molly Tuttle, and Lainey Wilson were announced to be performing on November 7th. 

The show will begin at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20th, on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu the next day.
