Cody Johnson has achieved his highest-charting single to date with the studio release of “Travelin’ Soldier,” entering the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart at #12. Originally popularized by the Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks) in 2002, Johnson’s rendition—one of the most requested songs at his live shows—arrived last week and immediately dominated streaming platforms, much like the original acoustic version he shared on YouTube in 2020.

The track generated nearly 15 million global streams in its first week, making it the most-streamed country song of the week and the #11 all-genre stream overall. It also debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and marked the highest new entry on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs USA at #8. Johnson ranked as the fifth-highest-streamed country artist for the week.

“Travelin’ Soldier” is available now across all digital platforms and follows Johnson’s current radio single “The Fall,” which sits in the Top 25 and is climbing. The latter serves as the second single from his 2024 Leather Deluxe Edition album.

Tonight, Johnson is a four-time nominee at the 59th Annual CMA Awards (8 p.m. ET, ABC), including his first-ever nod for Entertainer of the Year. He is also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and shares two nominations with Carrie Underwood for their two-week No. 1 duet “I’m Gonna Love You” in the Musical Event and Music Video of the Year categories.
