This morning, Cody Johnson has announced his 10th studio album, Banks of the Trinity to be released on June 26th. The lead single, “I Want You,” is scheduled for release tonight at midnight on all major streaming platforms.

The album cover features a vintage photograph of a rural Texas storefront. Thus-far, track listing and release timeline have not been made available, though Cody released a statement on the inspiration behind the record:

When I heard the song “Banks Of The Trinity” for the first time, it was like a portrait flashed in my head of memories I thought I’d forgotten. It took me straight back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the river.

That’s why I chose a photo of Lawrence’s Grocery Store for the album cover. As a kid, I used to ride my bike two miles down an old dirt road just to get a cream soda and a Blue Bell ice cream bar. I’d sit there and listen to the old men talk for a while before heading back home with a basket of groceries.

This record is my way of going back to those dirt roads. I can’t wait for you to come with me on that journey back

Johnson released two singles earlier in 2026: “Blame Texas” and a cover of Merle Haggard’s “Footlights.” It is not yet known whether either track will appear on Banks of the Trinity.

The announcement comes during a busy stretch for Johnson. He is currently on the “Cody Johnson Live ’26” tour, a run of more than 30 arena dates across the U.S. The tour launched earlier this year following a late-2025 health setback in which Johnson ruptured an eardrum and underwent surgery, forcing him to cancel several shows. In March, he headlined a concert-only event at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, becoming only the second artist to do so. Johnson is also slated to appear at CMA Fest in Nashville in June.

The new album follows Leather, which won CMA Album of the Year in 2024.

“I Want You” will be out everywhere tonight.
