UPDATE: Charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault on an officer against Chris Young have been dropped Friday night.
“After a review of all the evidence in this case, the Office of the District Attorney has determined that these charges will be dismissed,” Glenn Funk said.
Surveillance video of the altercation was released on Wednesday, showing Young placing his hand on the shoulder of an officer. Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey called for the charges to be dropped on Wednesday.
“What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place” Ramsey said.
Young reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and watery eyes at the time of the arrest.

Chris Young was arrested Monday night after an altercation with state officials. Young, 38, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault on an officer, according to court records. He has since been released from custody.
According to the arrest affidavit, Young was met by agents with the Alcohol Beverage Commission during a compliance check at roughly 8:30 p.m. at Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street. Young then began to record the officers and question them on his own power. After confirming his identification, the officers left Tin Roof and continued to the next door down at the Dawg House.
“When we walked into the bar, a man sitting at the bar, later found to be Mr. Young, had his ID in his hand above his head,” the affidavit said according to The Tennessean.
The officers then left Tin Roof and went to perform another compliance check at the Dawg House when Young and his group followed them to the next location. “While walking out the door Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder,” the affidavit said. “I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had.”
The scene then turned hostile according to the affidavit with patrons starting to yell and get between Young and the officers. It then took two officers to put Young in handcuffs and detain him.
“While all agents were trying to leave the bar, multiple people who were with Mr. Young started following agents and making the incident hostile,” the affidavit said. Young reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and watery eyes at the time of the arrest.
On Wednesday (1/24/2024), security footage from the incident surfaced showing Security showing Chris Young being pushed by a Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Commission Agent before his arrest on Monday, contradicting the officer’s initial claims. The footage was shared by Nick Beres of NewsChannel5.
Chris Young currently has plans to release an 18-track project, Young Love & Saturday Nights on May 22nd.
