Leon Bridges and Charley Crockett, both Texas-born musicians, have revealed plans for a co-headlining tour called The Crooner and The Cowboy tour. Bridges shared the news in a social media post today, noting that the two have been pursuing their music careers alongside each other for the past decade.
“Me and [Charley] been chasing this dream side by side for a decade,” Bridges wrote. “We grew up in this thing together. From the smallest clubs you can imagine—places where you could hear a pin drop, or sometimes, folks talkin’ over the music. But we kept on grinding.” The tour will see them performing in larger venues, including amphitheaters, with a final show scheduled at the Moody Arena in Austin.
Each night, Bridges and Crockett will play their own full sets. “50% crooner, 50% cowboy—two Texas boys bringing you the songs that got us here,” Bridges stated. He described Crockett as “the cowboy” with a storytelling style, while identifying himself as “the crooner” focused on soulful sounds.
The tour’s closing performance in Austin was highlighted by Bridges as notable. “There’s something special about ending this journey in the heart of Texas, where the energy is electric and the crowd knows how to bring it,” he wrote. No full list of tour dates or venues has been released yet.
The tour begins June 5th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and includes guest appearances from Noeline Hoffmann, Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore, & Reyna Tropical. The full run concludes October 15th at Austin’s Moody Center. “There’s something special about ending this journey in the heart of Texas, where the energy is electric and the crowd knows how to bring it,” Bridges wrote.
