Bluegrass extraordinaire Billy Strings has added new dates to his headline tour, extending it through the winter with performances in Athens, Asheville, and Nashville. The tour will include two nights at Akins Ford Arena in Athens, four nights at ExploreAshville.com Arena in Asheville, and two nights at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, culminating in a landmark show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Tickets for the newly announced shows will be available for pre-sale starting September 17th at 10:00 a.m. local time, with general sales beginning September 19th at 10:00 a.m. local time. The Ryman Auditorium performance requires fans to purchase a ticket for at least one Bridgestone Arena show to be eligible for a lottery-based ticketing process through Fair AXS. Further details are available at billystrings.com/tour.
Currently, Strings is touring with Bryan Sutton for a series of sold-out intimate shows. His fall schedule includes upcoming performances at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena for two nights, Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater for three nights, Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center for two nights, and Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena for two nights, among other dates.
The winter tour extension follows a significant year for Strings, marked by the release of his latest album, Highway Prayers, produced with Jon Brion. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart, the first bluegrass album to achieve this in 22 years. It has garnered critical praise, with GQ describing Strings as “the hottest roots-music phenomenon in decades” and Pitchfork noting the album’s exploration of new textures while remaining rooted in bluegrass.
In addition to Highway Prayers, Strings released an Apple Music Nashville Sessions EP with reworked tracks from the album and a collaborative live album with Sutton, Live at the Legion, recorded at Nashville’s American Legion Post 82 on April 7th, 2024. The live album features 20 traditional bluegrass and folk songs, including covers of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” and Doc Watson’s “Way Downtown.”
