Bailey Zimmerman will release his cover of Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” on May 22nd. The singer announced the release Monday night via social media, sharing a reel of himself performing the song’s hook.
The cover has been a fixture of Zimmerman’s live set throughout his current Different Night Same Rodeo Tour, where crowd reactions drew enough attention online to turn the performance into a recurring viral moment. In March, Zimmerman floated the idea of an official release on Instagram, asking fans whether he should put out his own version. He made the formal announcement at Stagecoach on April 25th.
“The Climb,” originally released in 2009 as part of the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack, was one of Cyrus’s earliest crossover hits. A TikTok clip from Zimmerman appears to tease a potential collaboration with Cyrus on the track, though no official confirmation has been made.
Zimmerman signed with Warner Music Nashville in 2022 and released his debut album, Religiously, in 2023. Prior to his music career, he worked as a gas pipeline worker in Illinois before turning to songwriting and building an audience on TikTok.
“The Climb” is out Friday, May 22nd.
