In an exciting announcement for fans, country music sensation Tyler Childers has revealed that he will be releasing the fan-favorite track “A Song While You’re Away” this Friday, June 28th. This track is part of the highly anticipated soundtrack for the upcoming film “Twisters,” which is set to thrill audiences later this year. He is joining artists like Luke Combs, Tucker Wetmore, and most recently Lainey Wilson who have all recently released the song they wrote for the soundtrack.
“Song While You’re Away” has become a fan favorite since he first played it on Red Barn Radio all the way back in 2016. The Kentucky native has never released it to streaming platforms despite it connecting with fans for the last eight years. Childers still has many other songs like “Messed Up Kid” in the vault that listeners have begged to hit streaming platforms and had no luck.
The lyrics, which speak of a couple’s journey and the bittersweet moments they share, are complemented by Childers’ signature rootsy sound. The song’s inclusion in the “Twisters” soundtrack marks a significant milestone for Childers, as it is his first contribution to a major motion picture.
He will be joining other major artists who will be included in Twisters: The Album. Thomas Rhett, Sam Barber, Jelly Roll, and Charley Crockett are just a few artists who haven’t released their respective tracks yet.
This is Tyler Childers’s first studio release since he dropped his most recent album, Rustin’ In The Rain back in September of 2023. Even though it’s new to streaming platforms, die-hard Childers fans have been waiting for this moment for years.
“A Song While You’re Away” will be available on all major streaming platforms this Friday, June 28th. “Twisters” is set to hit theaters July 19th.
