West Texas country rockers Treaty Oak Revival revealed that they’ll release their new acoustic album, The Talco Tapes, on May 23rd. The nine-track project, featuring four songs each from their studio albums No Vacancy (2021) and Have A Nice Day (2023), plus one cover, is accompanied by a full-length video premiere on YouTube, offering fans a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the recording process.
The band, formed in Odessa, Texas, in 2018, shared that The Talco Tapes has been a long-planned passion project, inspired by the enthusiastic response to their 2022 PBS Main Street Unplugged session on YouTube. “We tossed around the idea of doing an acoustic record for a long time,” the band stated. “Ever since our ‘PBS Unplugged’ session hit YouTube, y’all have been asking for more of that stripped-down vibe.” Recorded live in the studio without autotune or overdubs, the album captures the most rough and rugged essence of the quintet.
In addition to the album, there will also be a visual component to The Talco Tapes, “We wanted to record it live in the studio, have a camera crew out and capture really beautiful videos of the songs along with the ‘fly on the wall’ stuff from in between takes,” they explained. “The full video premiere is going up on YouTube the same day, and that’s where the real magic is—seeing it all happen live, feeling the room, catching the little moments between takes.”
The Taco Tapes will be out everywhere next Friday, May 23rd.
