New Music Round Up – 11/3/2023

Music

Cody Johnson and Jason Aldean are back this week as the heavy hitters with brand-new music. Cody Johnson’s Leather album is his third on a major label and first LP since he released a live album in 2022 as well as a Christmas album. This 12-track project sees Johnson work with Jelly Roll for the first time on the track “Whiskey Bent” and joins forces once again with Brooks and Dunn on their song “Long Live Country Music”. While Johnson doesn’t have a writing credit himself, greats such as HARDY and Jessi Alexander are both credited.

Jason Aldean’s album, Highway Desperado. It’s his 12th album and features the popular yet controversial song “Try That In A Small Town.” The track peaked at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of August 5th making it Aldean’s first #1 on the Hot 100. He’s had 40 songs reach the Billboard Top 100 during his career with three songs reaching the top 10.

Despite very prominent albums coming out this week, Muscadine Bloodline began to release singles from their upcoming album, “Weyerhaeuser Land” and “Low Hangin’ Fruit.” These singles will be their first release since Teenage Angst, a cover EP of punk rock songs that the duo is fond of. Aside from that project, the album Teenage Dixie was their third LP and was well-received by critics all around.

Smaller but certainly notable bands, The Wilder Blue and Shane Smith and The Saints each released singles ahead of their upcoming albums. The Wilder Blue look to build momentum ahead of their tour with Luke Combs during the summer. Shane Smith and The Saints are prepping for their first LP in nearly four years. They released “Between The Greys” in October and declared “Adeline” as the lead single for the next album Norther which will be released March 1st and is currently available for pre-save.

Conner Smith released “Smoky Mountains” as the first single and title track of his upcoming debut LP. Smoky Mountains will be available on January 26th and is currently available for preorder

Tyler Hubbard continues his solo career with “A Lot With A Little.” This release joins “Back Then Right Now” as his second single this year following his self-titled album being released at the start of the year.
