In an Instagram story post Monday afternoon, Morgan Wallen announced “Superman” will be released this Friday, April 9th.
“One last one before the album, and it’s a song I wrote for my son. It’s special to me for obvious reasons, I wanted it to have its own moment, and hopefully that’s what this will accomplish,” Wallen said in his post.
Wallen has been relatively private about his relationship with his son, aside from a few Instagram posts. This will be Wallen’s first mention of his son in his music, which he said was coming when he appeared on Theo Von’s podcast in April.
The track list for the album was revealed back in April as part of a steady roll out. Wallen has described the album as a reflective journey, admitting, “I have been a problem, for sure, and I’ve got no problem admitting that,” while exploring other facets of his identity. The rollout has been accompanied by his I’m The Problem Tour, kicking off June 20 at Houston’s NRG Stadium, featuring a rotating lineup of artists like Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, and Koe Wetzel. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Morgan Wallen Foundation, supporting youth music and sports programs.
