Midland To Release”Wichita Lineman” Cover This Friday

Midland

Midland announced today on Instagram that they plan to release their own version of “Wichita Lineman” by Glen Campbell. The song will be available on all streaming platforms, this Friday, November 17th.

They’ve been covering the song during various live performances and have decided to release their own mastered version.

Glen Campbell originally put out the song in 1968 as the title track for his 10th album at the time. Written by Jimmy Webb, the track was re-released in 2001 when it was remastered. The track was certified Gold by RIAA in January of 1969 and was ranked 195 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Midland is far from the first to cover the iconic song. Johnny Cash covered the song in 2003 as part of his Unearthed album. James Taylor, R.EM., and Dwight Yoakam also covered the song. Little Big Town also released a version of it joined by Jimmy Webb, the original writer.
