This morning, Megan Moroney took to Instagram to announce her new Christmas EP, Blue Christmas… duh, which will be out everywhere tonight at midnight (Eastern Time). Per Meg’s announcement, the EP will include two original songs and a cover of Elvis Presley’s seminal Christmas tune. For some time, Megan teased herself that she might have another trick up her sleeve or two this year, sharing a cryptic photo of blue Christmas tree ornaments on her Instagram story.
In the announcement post, Meg is seen hanging up stockings at a mantle place in a vintage, 1980s-indebted teaser while a steel guitar cries the tune of “Blue Christmas.” As of yet, there’s no word on the titles of her two original songs, but fans certainly won’t have long to wait.
The blue theme of her Christmas project is extremely apt, as Meg is only a few months removed from the release of her sophomore album Am I Okay? of the same color. Just yesterday, she shared a music video for the title track, which is currently climbing its way up the charts at country radio. Am I Okay? and its preceding singles have firmly launched Megan Moroney into country music’s A-list, and made her the most sought-after female star in the business today.
