Jon Pardi Announces New Album "Honkytonk Hollywood"

Californian country star Jon Pardi announced on Instagram early Friday morning that his fifth studio record, “Honkytonk Hollywood,” will be released on April 17th. Fans got a preview of the future project along with the announcement as Pardi dropped the album’s title track that same day.

“I have told some people, but now it’s official!” Pardi said via Instagram. “New album Honkytonk Hollywood, out April 11. The title track is out now.”

The first single, “Honkytonk Hollywood,” is described as the emotional core of the record, a “grit-and-glitz” ode to Pardi’s double personality, which he’s been building since the beginning of this career. In a press release, Pardi spoke about the track and record as they relate to his journey thus far.

“All my albums have been rock and roll with a country flare – this one keeps rockin’,” Pardi explained. “It’s also the most grown-up record I’ve ever made, all my soul. ‘Honkytonk Hollywood’ is for the Nashville that’s in my blood and a nod to my California roots. And now, more than ever, I hope it’s a way to honor and lift up the people of my home state.”

Pardi enlisted Jay Joyce to helm production on this upcoming effort, the first time the two have collaborated in any capacity. It’s a move he says distances himself from the Nashville machine, spending just five days in the studio with his touring band taking the reins on a large part of the record. Although his resume is eclectic, Joyce has plenty of experience producing country records. He’s produced albums for Eric Church, Lainey Wilson, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise and is a frequent collaborator with Kentucky-born indie alternative group Cage the Elephant.

Pardi also spoke on the liberties he’s taken on this album in particular and how they set it apart from past projects.

“We did what we wanted, and it stands out because of it,” Pardi said in a press release. “Taking the chance paid off, and I want to keep it that way.”

“Honkytonk Hollywood” is now available on all streaming platforms, with the full album available for pre-order
