Nashville native and singer/songwriter Jelly Roll has been quietly developing his newest project recently, a bar set to open up in his hometown. According to a permit filed with the Metro Planning Commission (MPC), the bar is currently named “Jelly Roll’s Goodnight Nashville,” with a tentative address at 209 Broadway. The space used to be occupied by a Trail West Boot Store.
Details of the bar’s development first arose in mid-October, with local stations and newspapers picking up on the story. Its initial announcement, however, came much earlier. Jelly Roll first spoke on the project in May of 2023, during his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.
“I’m announcing now, right here, that I’m opening my bar on Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee, which is a real big deal,” said Jelly Roll. “You’ve been to Broadway. It’s all after music stars. I’m the first Nashville native to get a bar.”
While no interior images are present, a rendering of the sign depicts a skull wearing a crown with the bar’s name in black and yellow lighting. On the side, red highlights will read ‘burgers,’ ‘spirits’ and ‘tattoos.’
The bar will be five stories, with a memorial seat dedicated to Jelly Roll’s late father, Buddy. On the Joe Rogan podcast, he also said that he drew much inspiration from Rogan’s own bar and comedy club, “Rogan’s Comedy Mothership.” While the bar will be primarily open to the public, Jelly Roll says he plans to close it periodically for private events.
Details other than these few are sparse, and an opening date is still yet to be announced.
