Carrie Underwood is set to perform next week, January 20th, at President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration. She will be singing the iconic song “America the Beautiful.” The Armed Forces Chorus and the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club will join Underwood.
Carrie Underwood is one of the bigger names to be performing at this year’s inauguration. She has managed to keep her political views quiet, but playing the President Of The United States inauguration is a tremendous honor regardless of one’s beliefs.
Oklahoman country artists have played prominent roles in the last couple of inaugurations. In 2020, Garth Brooks performed “Amazing Grace” at President Joe Biden’s inauguration. In 2017, at Trump’s first inauguration, the late Toby Keith played the pre-inauguration concert.
Underwood has been relatively removed from the public eye recently before she made a surprise appearance at the 2024 CMA Awards singing “I’m Gonna Love You” with Cody Johnson. Carrie Underwood is one of the most iconic country artists of all time, with tons of accolades, like winning “American Idol” in 2005 and eight GRAMMY Awards throughout her storied career.

As reported today, Carrie Underwood is slated to perform “America the Beautiful” at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th. The ceremony will take place at the U.S. Capitol, where the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club will accompany Underwood. Underwood, who launched her career on “American Idol,” is scheduled to perform shortly before Trump takes the oath of office. Carrie expressed her honor in participating, stating, “It’s an honor to be part of such a historic event. I hope my performance can help bring our country together.”
Traditionally, inaugural ceremonies feature performances by prominent artists, and Underwood’s participation follows that of Jennifer Lopez, who performed at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021. In addition to Underwood, other inaugural performers include country singer Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio. Greenwood is slated to perform as Trump walks out to take the oath, while Macchio will sing the National Anthem at the end of the program.
The inauguration will take place on January 20th, 2025.
