Blake Shelton is kicking off the next chapter of his career with a new single, “Texas,” on November 15th. According to a recent press release, the track offers a nod to George Strait’s iconic idea of “where all the exes go.” Fans can pre-save and pre-order “Texas” now.

In a statement, Shelton shared his excitement for the song, “The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself. I think there’s something really special about this record and important for me.” The song tells the story of a man left wondering where his free-spirited ex has gone, suspecting she may have ended up in Texas. The track’s irresistible call-and-response is sure to make it a fan favorite.

Written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr, and Lalo Guzman, “Texas” marks Shelton’s debut release for BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville and Wheelhouse Records. The song was produced by Shelton’s longtime producer, Scott Hendricks, who has helped shape many of Shelton’s biggest hits.

“This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single,” Shelton explained. “It’s connected with what I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”

Shelton, who recently scored his 29th #1 single with Post Malone on the hit “Pour Me A Drink,” will perform “Texas” live for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 20, featuring an interview and an outdoor stage performance.

“Texas” will be out everywhere on Friday.
